Chapter Two

"Did you sleep well?" Commander Claenogh asked, thought it was obvious by the boys appearance that he had gotten little or no sleep the night before.

"Thought of last night kept me up all night," Zin explained.

"Ah, yes. The death of one's mother can often leave your mind in a state of restlessness," he said simply.

Chapter One

Lightning crashed into the side of the house, awakening the boy. The room was instantly set ablaze, covering the door, and his window, the only two ways that he had to escape.

His heart raced. What should I do? What can I do? His thoughts were quickly interrupted, however, by a lout explosion that completely removed his door. He leapt through the door way, over the flames catching his clothes on fire as he did so.
